In Partnership with the Confluence Environmental Center and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council (CSWC), the Member will help lead the CSWC Restoration Education program. The Columbia Slough Watershed includes the diverse and urban Portland neighborhoods of St John’s, through North and Northeast Portland, to Fairview and Gresham in the east. The Member will lead High School youth mentors and elementary school students as they learn about habitat restoration and assist with a project in a natural area near their schools. They will also provide classroom lesson support, conduct restoration site surveys, and help with event preparation and staffing. Outdoor activities will include leading students in planting or clearing invasive plants (fall and winter months), site surveys (spring and fall,) flatwater paddling, and teaching assistance.
