The Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) is excited to announce the funding of 42 local nonprofit organizations to help build their capacity to engage in upcoming grant opportunities addressing climate change and social equity.

The PCEF Application Support Grant program is providing up to $5,000 each for these organizations to participate in trainings and grant writing workshops, expand community outreach and acquire needed technology.

More than 120 organizations applied for Application Support Grant funding, reflecting a clear need and interest in the community for these resources. The PCEF Committee prioritized organizations that serve historically marginalized populations, particularly Black and Indigenous people, as well as very small organizations.

“These funds come at a critical time for these organizations as they continue to address core needs of their communities,” said Sam Baraso, PCEF Program Manager. “Supporting organizations like these that have not historically been engaged in climate action is core to the intent of the grant program. We want to help build their capacity so they can be a part of a just, clean energy economy.”
